Spangdahlem's lodging facility, Eifel Arms Inn, won the 2012 Air Force Innkeeper small facility award Oct. 1, 2012.

Each major command selects one small and large facility to compete for the award. Evaluation teams then select four bases worldwide from each category to compete for the Air Force Services Agency award.

The purpose of the award is to recognize lodging facilities that provide the most outstanding hotel-type lodging and customer service to Air Force travelers. Air Force Services Agency members also aim to encourage innkeepers to improve their management and operation of lodging facilities by inspecting accreditation in lodging maintenance, housekeeping, customer service, logistics, accounting, training, management and support.

"We want people to leave our facility satisfied by providing the best quality customer service and room service we can," said Michael McGuire, 52nd Force Support Squadron Eifel Arms Inn general manager. "We do that by ensuring our staff is properly trained and has the supplies they need to prepare rooms to Air Force accreditation standards. Our staff is truly outstanding and empowered to take care of guests."

Eifel Arms Inn also credits the support of the 52nd Fighter Wing for winning the trophy, which will be presented later this year. They are also preparing to compete in next year's competition.

"I'm ecstatic we won this prestigious award," said Maj. Cat Logan, 52nd FSS commander. "I'm very proud of our lodging team and very thankful for the support from the base - we could not have won this without involvement from the entire Saber team."
