Special Use of Airspace (sUAS)

Flights are not authorized within 1.5 km of Spangdahlem Air Base unless proper coordination has occurred between the operator and 52 OSS/SFS. Operators must submit the request form in order to coordinate flights within the 1.5 km radius zone.

Simply applying for an unlock code from the DJI app DOES NOT MEET THIS REQUIREMENT.

There is a requirement to register drones with a mass of over 250g OR any that have a visual or acoustic recording device. Registration is done through the LBA website (LBA is the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt, the federal aviation office).

To register it is necessary to upload contact information, a copy of your passport or Ausweis (identity card), your drone’s serial number, and your insurance information. You will also need to take a free online course, and then pass an exam that is 25 euro/attempt. The link is here: https://uas-registration.lba-openuav.de/#/registration/uasOperator

F-16 FIGHTING FALCON

   The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a compact, multi-role fighter aircraft. It is highly maneuverable and has proven itself in air-to-air combat and air-to-surface attack. It provides a relatively low-cost, high-performance weapon system for the United States and allied nations.
