Bitburg invites community to European Folk Festival
BITBURG, Germany - One highlight event of the Bitburg folk festival is the traditional Bitburg beer keg rolling contest, which begins at 2:30 p.m. July 7 and during which approximately 20 teams meet on Triererstrasse to hustle 50-liter beer barrels down a 100-meter course. A few base members traditionally participate in the event. Other festival highlights include the introduction of all of the folk dancing groups from up to 15 European countries as they walk into the festival tent at 8 p.m. July 7 and a folk festival parade with all participating groups marching through and dancing in the streets of Bitburg at 2:30 p.m. July 8.
