Cheers, Mate: Sabers host RAF Air Cadets

SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany --

Members from the 52nd Fighter Wing Community Relations, 52nd Maintenance Group and 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron hosted tours for more than 70 Royal Air Force Air Cadets here, Aug. 8-9, 2016.

Air Cadets, a United Kingdom-wide youth group sponsored by the Royal Air Force, received an in-depth look at 52nd FW assets including the base fire department and an F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter aircraft.

“Providing a positive experience, we help to motivate these future leaders, maintainers, engineers and pilots to continue the fight when it’s their turn,” said U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Craig Brandenburg, 52nd MG wing weapons manager. “With operations around the world continuing to be as dynamic as ever, finding opportunities to demonstrate the value of U.S. Air Force/RAF interoperations has never been more important.”

The youth organization, consisting of more than 40,000 members aged between 12 and 20 years old throughout Great Britain, participates in opportunities to travel through Europe and abroad to many areas including military installations, museums and other various sites while aiming to develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship.

“There is no doubt this learning experience will leave a lasting impression on these up-and-coming cadets,” Brandenburg said.
