Five U.S. congressmen toured the 52nd Fighter Wing during an immersion visit Dec. 17, 2014, at Spangdahlem Air Base and Buechel Air Base, Germany.

As part of their trip to Europe, the congressional delegation visited the 52nd FW to learn about the wing's mission and talk with its Airmen.

"We always want our troops to know that they're close to our hearts and minds when they're overseas and we're at home," said U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, 3rd District of Alabama Congressman. "So whenever we travel in the Armed Services Committee, we like to visit with our troops wherever we go. ... I was fortunate to meet with a young man from Alabama and two gentlemen from Ohio. It's important to let them know we care and appreciate the job they do because it is an important one."

The delegation received a mission brief, toured facilities and ate lunch with Airmen, including constituents from their own districts.

"Our Airmen perform a significant, strategic mission, and showcasing what they do and how they do it is vital, especially to the elected representatives of our government," said U.S. Air Force Col. Lars Hubert, 52nd FW vice commander.  "We're honored to have hosted them and informed them on all the great things Sabers do every day, and we received some great feedback from the representatives during the visit."

The visit marked the final stop on the congressmen's tour before heading back to the Capitol, for the start of the 114th Congress Jan. 3rd, 2015.
