Airmen assigned to the 52nd Fighter Wing and their families are invited to explore and learn about the Eifel region and surrounding areas this summer.

The Explore the Eifel fair takes place at Club Eifel, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The event, which is currently in it's twelfth season, offers information and tours for attendees.

"Explore the Eifel is going to be as huge as ever with many surprises awaiting visitors," said Bernhard Schaefer, 52nd Fighter Wing community relations advisor. "This event is unique throughout the Air Force, and Explore the Eifel continues to be an excellent opportunity for Spangdahlem Airmen to learn about the culture, history and daily life in the Eifel area."

More than 100 exhibitors, including mayors, county and area officials, travel  agents, organizations  and tour guides will be on hand to offer Spangdahlem Air Base members English-language pamphlets, maps and details on events, sightseeing activities and excursions in the local area.

Members can view demonstrations and participate in activities both inside and outside of Club Eifel throughout the day. Free trips, games and entertainment will be available for young and old, single service members and families.

This year's fair includes new attractions such as musical performances, gladiator fight demonstrations, animal shows, stilt-walking performances, pony riding for children, a medieval market, games and raffles.

There will also be the opportunity to sign up for events throughout the summer, such as vineyard walks, castle tours, bicycle excursions, Segway tours and museum visits.
