Spangdahlem hosts NAOC
A U.S. Air Force E-4B aircraft sits on the ramp alongside several other aircraft outside the 726th Air Mobility Squadron at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, June 4, 2014. The E-4B, a militarized version of the Boeing 747-200, serves as the National Airborne Operations Center and provides the President of the United States, the U.S. Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff with a worldwide, survivable and enduring command center for exercising national security responsibilities through all levels of conflict. Spangdahlem manages a 10,000-foot runway which serves as a launching point for immediate combat operations response and a U.S. Transportation Command air mobility hub.
