52nd CMS Airman receives Bronze Star
SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, GERMANY – Col. Lee T. Wight 52nd Fighter Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. William J. Brown, 52nd Component Maintenance Squadron propulsion systems manager, stand at attention prior to a presentation of the Bronze Star during the 52nd Maintenance Group Unit Compliance Inspection call June 1, 2009 at the base fitness center. Chief Brown received the medal for contributing to the execution of 998 aircraft sorties, resulting in 10,541 hours of critical armed overwatch and medical evacuation. He also initiated and led a tiger team to re-organize Camp Samek, enhancing the group’s operational efficiency and quality of life. Chief Brown secured essential workspace, housing accommodations and other base support for a vital Red Horse team enabling the completion of high-priority construction projects for a Secretary-of-Defense initiative to deploy 3,700 additional Marines.
