Girl Scouts honor Memorial Day
ST. AVOLD, FRANCE -- Averi Goetz (right) works with a French female guide to present a wreath during a Memorial Day ceremony at St. Avold, France. A group of 25 Scouts from Spangdahlem Air Base traveled to St. Avold, to prepare the cemetery for a Memorial Day ceremony. The girls joined 30 troops from Sembach Air Base to place flags on the more than 10,000 headstones. The girls also presented more than 40 wreaths during the ceremony. This is an annual service project for the Girls Scouts from Spangdahlem and Sembach. The girls camp at a nearby camp ground and spend the weekend work with French Guides in an effort to honor the World War II Soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice. (Photo by Michelle DeMers)
