BALAD AIR BASE, Iraq -- Capt. Benjamin "Custer" Staats, a 22nd Expeditionary Fighter Squadron fighter pilot, takes "Flat Mads", a paper replica of Army Col. Ken Walter's 8-year-old daughter Madeline, along on mission over Iraq. Colonel Walter, a member of the 316th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, keeps in touch with his daughter and her classmates in Pennsylvania about his experiences in Iraq.
