F-16 pilot reaches 4,000 flight hours

SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- Markus Egger, son of Lt. Col. Brian Egger, 480th Fighter Squadron F-16 Fighting Falcon pilot, tapes his father’s legs after Egger landed his F-16 here flight Dec. 14. Egger reached his 4,000th total flying hour on this flight. He is one of 34 F-16 pilots in U.S. Air Force history to reach this milestone. Tying down and spraying pilots with champagne, water or shaving cream is a tradition dating back to the Vietnam War era for celebrating flight milestones. Egger is stationed at Ramstein Air Base, but does flight qualifications and is an instructor pilot with the 480th FS here. (U.S. Air Force photo/Senior Airman Natasha Stannard)
