Pilgrims travel to view ‘Holy Robe’
TRIER, Germany – Children from the Catholic Kindergarten St. Nikolaus in Konz light a candle decorated by their class outside the Trier Dom Cathedral here April 25. Children from schools around Germany decorated candles in commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the first public appearance of the “Holy Robe,” a tunic reportedly worn by Jesus. Approximately 700,000 pilgrims visited the relic at its last appearance at the cathedral in 1996. (U.S. Air Force photo by 2nd Lt. Stephani Schafer/Released)
