U.S. Air Forces in Europe hosts D-Day 80 media flights Published May 2, 2024 U.S. Air Forces in Europe – Air Forces Africa RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- In remembrance of the 80th anniversary of Operation Overlord during World War II, U.S. Air Forces in Europe’s 86th Airlift Wing will conduct D-Day commemoration flights with multiple C-130J Super Hercules aircraft from June 2 to 7, 2024. As part of these events, U.S. Air Forces in Europe will host media flights from Cherbourg-Maupertus airport, France, beginning June 2 through June 7. Interested media members will have the opportunity to fly onboard a C-130J Super Hercules during D-Day commemoration events. Documents required for registration include: a current photo (for your media pass); your full name; media affiliation and credentialing; nationality; passport number; and a letter of intent for publication or broadcast from your affiliated media organization. Requests will not be processed until all of the required documentation is received. This is a first-come, first-serve opportunity as space on the C-130J aircraft is limited. The U.S. Air Force will not provide transportation to or from the Cherbourg-Maupertus Airport. Media are expected to manage their own logistics and accommodations.
