Children’s Walk-In Dental Clinic Published Sept. 27, 2013 By 52nd Medical Group Dental Squadron SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- The 52nd Dental Squadron is hosting a Children's Walk-In Clinic Oct. 11, starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Spangdahlem dental clinic. No appointments are needed and children up to age thirteen can receive a dental exam and cleaning. It will be first come, first serve basis. In the meantime, here are some tips for keeping your child's teeth healthy and decay-free from Capt. Mark Olsen, 52nd DS general dentist: Tip 1: Avoid frequent between-meal snacks and sugary foods. Children should not have more than two between-meal snacks or more than 4 - 6 ounces of juice per day. Tip 2: Tooth brushing and flossing are needed daily. Children should clean their teeth twice a day with a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste and floss between their teeth once a day. Supervise your child while brushing and flossing to insure that a proper job is done. Tip 3: Water fluoridation can strengthen teeth. Fluoride helps teeth resist dental decay. On Spangdahlem Air Base the water is fluoridated optimally. If you live off base, on Bitburg Annex or drink bottled water, drink fluoridated bottled water. Tip #4: Seek regular dental visits including yearly exams and cleanings. The 52nd DS can help with this. Usually, dependents are seen on a space-available basis. For more information contact the dental clinic at 452-8193 or come to the Children's Walk-In Clinic on Oct. 11. We look forward to seeing you then!
