Spangdahlem supports POTUS visit to EUCOM theater Published May 5, 2016 By Staff Reports 52nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- The 726th Air Mobility Squadron recently supported a large C-17 Globemaster III cargo aircraft stage operation in support of the President of the United States' visit to Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom and Germany. The 726th AMS and 52nd Fighter Wing supported over 50 C-17 arrival and departures throughout a two and half week period in April. Serving as the primary C-17 logistics hub for the operation, the 726th AMS, along with their 52nd FW partners, provided command and control, aircraft maintenance, fueling, aircraft servicing and aircrew support for the high-priority missions. In total, the 52nd Logistics Readiness Squadron's petroleum, oil and lubricants flight uploaded more than half a million gallons of fuel to departing aircraft, while 726th AMS personnel conducted multiple maintenance actions including seven aircraft deicing events due to the late April snow showers. Additionally, 726th AMS personnel processed and enabled the safe transport of over 400 passengers and 1.4 million pounds of cargo to include four helicopters and 15 vehicles. This presidential support operation, along with the 726th AMS' routine missions, culminated in the squadron's busiest airflow period in over two years, with some missions launching or landing beyond the normal airfield operating hours. "The combined efforts and seamless support between the 726th AMS and 52nd FW not only ensured these missions were successful but also demonstrated Spangdahlem's readiness and proficiency to support large scale mobility operations in the future," said U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Justin Swartzmiller, 726th AMS commander.
