AFOSI now accepting agent applications Published Feb. 7, 2014 By Air Force Office of Special Investigations Detachment 518 SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- The Air Force Office of Special Investigations is accepting applications for senior airmen and staff sergeants interested in becoming federally credentialed special agents. AFOSI is continuously looking for qualified applicants who have high moral character and an unwavering commitment to the U.S. Air Force. REQUIREMENTS Rank: Senior airman or staff sergeant PT: Passed all components of Air Force Fitness Assessment Date Eligible for Return from Overseas: No more than 14 months and no less than 10 months remaining Enlistment: At least 6 months remaining on current enlistment Total Active Federal Military Service: Cannot exceed 10 years for staff sergeant or six years for senior airmen Airman Leadership School: Must be completed Enlisted Performance Reports: Applicants must have a strong performance history First-Term Airmen must have completed at least one duty day in the 35th month of their current enlistment (or 59 months for six-year enlistees) and apply no later than the last duty day of the 43rd month of their current enlistment (or 67 months for six-year enlistees). Top-notch individuals selected for this competitive program will be trained at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Ga., the same institution as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Secret Service, Naval Criminal Investigative Service and Homeland Security special agents attend. Applicants will be immersed in training on firearms, high-speed pursuits, arrest tactics, crime scene processing and interrogations. Upon graduation, they will become special agents and, at their first duty station, will be fully engaged in anti-terrorism, counter intelligence, high-value fraud and felony criminal investigations. Agents will also be responsible for the personal protection of U.S. and foreign dignitaries. As agents progress in their careers, they will have opportunities to become a specialist in polygraph examinations, technical operations and even forensic sciences.
