Super Saber Performer Published Oct. 15, 2014 By Staff Reports 52nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- Name: Staff Sgt. Jonathan D. Porter Unit: American Forces Network Spangdahlem Duty title: NCO in charge, News Hometown: San Antonio Years in Service: Seven years Why joined: I joined the Air Force, specifically my job as a broadcaster, because it allowed me the opportunity to travel overseas. Seeing new and different places is something I've always loved to do. Family: My wife's name is Diane Torres-Porter. She is an attorney who is currently barred in two states and working on her third bar exam. My 5-year-old son, Laszlo Porter, plays soccer and just started kindergarten. My 3 year-old daughter, Elena Porter, loves her ballet classes. Hobbies: Some of my favorite pastimes and hobbies are watching movies, reading a good book and running trails outside in the middle of nowhere. Favorite aspect of job: I absolutely love the creative aspect of my job. I get to sit around with some really creative people and spit-ball commercial ideas that hopefully make people laugh or just really take notice of the message. Most memorable Air Force experience: Being a broadcaster in Afghanistan, I had to go where the stories were and that sometimes meant going on operations outside the wire with some pretty high-speed people. How do you make responsible choices: I'm a father and a husband. That means the choices I make have an impact on not only my life but the lives of my family, so, it's pretty clear-cut for me. The responsible choices in life aren't usually in the grey, it's black and white.
