Members of the Spangdahlem community gathered to watch Superbowl XLIX at Club Eifel on Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, Feb. 2, 2015.

During the championship football game between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, the club served food and drinks, hosted a football video game tournament and gave away numerous prizes, including electronics and vacations.

"Our favorite part is bringing a little bit of home to the Airmen of Spangdahlem," said Jarrod Garceau, 52nd Force Support Squadron and event coordinator. "Even with the late night you can see the commitment to the American tradition."

The effort given by Club Eifel's staff, FSS Marketing and sponsors did not go unnoticed by the spectators.

"The work that was put into this event was outstanding," said U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Watthanakit Wannakun, 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron airman dormitory leader. "This is my third time watching the Superbowl at the Eifel Club and it seems to be getting better every year. I especially love the prizes from the sponsors that were given out through the entire game."

In the final seconds of the game, the Patriots intercepted a pass on their one-yard line to stop the Seahawks from scoring and secure a victory. The final score was Patriots 28, Seahawks 24. The atmosphere in the room was a mixture of triumph and devastation.

"As a Seahawks fan, I felt heartbroken after the game," Wannakun said. "However, even though we lost, I'm proud of my team for making it this far."
