The 52nd Communications Squadron and the Air Force Communications & Electronics Association Eifel chapter hosted a Tech Expo at Club Eifel here July 22.

AFCEA, a non-profit international organization that aims to increase knowledge through the exploration of issues relevant to information technology, communications and electronics for the defense, homeland security and intelligence communities, facilitated the expo for the benefit of Spangdahlem community members to learn about new advances in technological industries.

"The cyber domain is rapidly changing," said U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. William Hebb, 52nd CS operations flight chief and AFCEA Eifel chapter president. "Most active-duty members need to know how to defend against data breaches, which can occur quite often. If we don't learn new technologies of encrypting and defending the network, those breaches will continue to happen."

More than 250 members of the Spangdahlem community attended the exposition and interacted with 26 organizations, whose representatives exhibited their services.

"We need to stay ahead of our adversaries," said U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Yara Mitchell, 52nd CS commands and programs superintendent and AFCEA Eifel chapter vice president. "Having the latest and greatest technology will keep us a step ahead. If we don't stay ahead and keep up with our technology, it'll hurt our mission and hurt our Airmen. Though we have financial restraints, we still need to try our best to stay aware of the latest and greatest out there in the technology industry."
