Town halls to seek community input Published Jan. 20, 2016 By Staff Sgt. Joe W. McFadden 52nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- The 52nd Fighter Wing will host two quality of life-related town hall meetings at the Saber Conference Center's Viper Conference Room at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, Jan. 22, 2016. Both sessions, offered from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., will provide Spangdahlem community members with an opportunity to offer assessments and solutions ahead of the biannual Caring for People forum. "The Caring for People forum is a unique opportunity for community members to address issues and concerns to leadership in a candid and direct format," said Helena Palmer, 52nd FW community support coordinator. "The forum brings together members from all demographic groups across the base to brainstorm what improvements can be made to base services and quality of life programs." Palmer added that feedback offered during previous town halls and forums have produced tangible benefits for the community including increased programming for single Airmen; completing the fitness/running trail around the base; boosting the sponsorship program and cultural adaptation programs, like the German language and cooking lessons at Airman & Family Readiness Center; and refining web-based communications on base programs such as the Heart-to-Heart tool. "I believe this grassroots process is an excellent way to effect change in the community," Palmer said. "No issue is trivial or too small to be addressed." The 2016 Caring for People forum is scheduled for Feb. 1 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Club Eifel. Those interested in attending must pre-register with Palmer and will be assigned to focus on six areas of support: housing, spouses, schools, single Airmen, health/fitness and child/youth activities. "I am hoping we will have maximum participation and creative input on how we can make life better on Spangdahlem and leave it better than we found it."
