SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- The 52nd Fighter Wing, in coordination with the 726th Air Mobility Squadron, successfully conducted a cargo reception from July 28 to Aug. 9, 2025 at Spangdahlem Air Base, following a deployment in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
The operation marked the final phase of the deployment, ensuring the return and accountability of mission-critical equipment to Spangdahlem AB.
“The rapid processing of our cargo and personnel is vital to maintaining our fighter squadron's operational readiness and mission effectiveness, while ensuring we honor our commitment to reunite service members with their families,” said Airman 1st Class Aubree Derr, 52nd Logistics Readiness Squadron logistics planner.
Throughout the reception, cargo aircraft delivered Aerospace Ground Equipment, spare parts and other mission-essential assets used during the deployment. The 726th AMS, part of the 521st Air Mobility Operations Wing, is a tenant unit located at Spangdahlem AB and played a pivotal role in the logistics execution.
“Our team handled the largest reception we’ve supported in recent memory,” said Lt. Col. Catherine Nelson, 726th AMS commander. “It’s a testament to how we deliver rapid global mobility while working hand-in-hand with our neighboring fighter wing.”
Airmen from both units worked around the clock to unload, inspect and process the returning cargo, ensuring operational readiness across all redeployed assets. Deployments like these strengthen global logistics networks, enhance airlift readiness and highlight the critical coordination between mobility units like the 726th AMS and logistics planners in the 52nd LRS in support of sustaining operations and interoperability in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
