Possible existence of a bogus DTS Web site Published July 24, 2007 52nd Comptroller Squadron SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- The Defense Travel System has been advised of the possible existence of a bogus DTS Web site. Reportedly, this Web site attempts to use phishing techniques to entice users into providing sensitive information. This matter has been elevated to the Joint Task Force-Global Network Operations for investigation and will provide an update when available. In the meantime, the following recommendations are provided to protect the DTS user community: * Disregard security "advisories" that are sent in chain e-mails and are not from a known, official source. Official, organizational emails should be digitally signed per DOD policy. * Do not open attachments in unsolicited emails. * Disable macros when opening documents from unknown sources. * When connecting to the DTS website, use a secure connection (https://) and verify the authenticity of the site by checking its PKI certificate. For more information or questions, contact your local DTS help desk.
