Brandy Chavez Unit: 52nd Medical Operations Squadron Duty title: Aerospace medical technician Hometown: San Diego and Dayton, Ohio Years in Service: Seven years Why joined: I joined the Air Force because it's a family tradition, for the camaraderie and the opportunity for a higher education. Family: My older sister, a technical sergeant at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., her two children and my father who is a retired master sergeant. Hobbies: I enjoy reading, hiking, attending college classes (I'm four classes away from my master's degree) and spending time with friends. Favorite aspect of job: My favorite aspect of my job is taking care of others; I really love that this career field affords me the opportunity to practice within my altruistic nature. Most memorable Air Force experience: My most memorable Air Force experience is how I can live in different countries through the military. Many people in the U.S. never leave their own states, let alone live in another country. I believe we are quite lucky to be paid to live in Europe. Additionally, I have met a plethora of wonderful people throughout my Air Force career, so that has also been a priceless experience.
