Geilenkirchen chief passes away Published April 7, 2008 Geilenkirchen Air Base, Germany -- Chief Master Sgt. John A. Roberto, superintendent of both the Quality Assurance Division and the Electronics Maintenance Squadron at the E-3A Component, Geilenkirchen NATO Air Base, Germany, died March 31, 2008, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., while undergoing treatment for a serious illness. There was a memorial service 4 April at Geilenkirchen. Chief Roberto enlisted in the Air Force in January 1976 and, during his distinguished Air Force career, he served at various locations around the world. He served in the U.S., the Republic of Korea, Italy, Bosnia Herzegovina and four assignments in Germany. Two of his assignments in Germany were served at Geilenkirchen, both 1999-2003 and 2005-2008. Chief Roberto, a long-standing member of the component and the local community, will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife and three children, as well as his father and brother.
