Top Saber Performer Published May 2, 2008 By Staff Reports SPANGDHALEM AIR BASE, Germany -- Airman 1st Class Alisha Rowe, 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron fire department driver and operator, has been named the 52nd Fighter Wing's Top Saber Performer for the week of May 2-8. Name: Airman 1st Class Alisha Rowe Unit: 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron Duty title: Driver/operator Hometown: Leavenworth, Kan. Years in service: A year and a half Why joined: I went to college for two years and needed a break. I was also paying for college out of pocket and it was getting pretty expensive. I thought joining the Air Force would be a great way for me to travel the world, experience new things and further my education for free. Family: I have a pretty small family that consists of my mom, my dad and me. Hobbies: I like doing pretty much everything. I enjoy hanging out with my co-workers, playing softball and sleeping. Favorite aspect of job: I like being able to work with different kinds of people. Since the fire department works 24-hours on and 24-hours off we all get very close. Most memorable Air Force experience: My most memorable experience would be technical school. I went to one of the hardest fire fighter academies and went through a lot of difficult obstacles especially being one of the only women to go through the school. It was a definite confidence booster. I made a lot of life long friends who I will always remember and trust because of the obstacles we overcame together.
