SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany--Mr. Clay Skelton, the son of former 52nd Tactical Fighter Wing Commander Col. Richard E. Skelton places flowers July 25, 2008 at the Spangdahlem Airman's Memorial bearing his father's name. Col. Skelton died from a heart attack during a mission in an F-4 after safely landing his plane. SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany—A memorial to fallen Airmen in Spangdahlem's Air Park. Flowers were placed by Mr. Clay Skelton July 25, 2008 in memory of his father, Col. Richard E. Skelton, former 52nd Tactical Fighter Wing Commander. This was Mr. Skelton's first return to Spangdahlem Air Base since his father suffered a heart attack while on a mission in his F-4.
