Can you guess the first snow day?

The 52nd Operations Support Squadron Weather Flight is hosting a contest to see who can guess the correct date and time of the first snowfall at Spangdahlem Air Base. 

Guesses for the contest will be accepted Oct. 16 - 23, and one guess is allowed per person. The person who guesses the closest date and time without going over will win a $100 shopping spree at the Spangdahlem Commissary and a $20 AAFES gift card. 

According to information from the 14th Weather Squadron, Asheville, N.C., the earliest date Spangdahlem Air Base received snowfall on record is Oct. 11, 1975. The first dates of snowfall for the last five years are Nov. 21, 2008; Nov. 14, 2007; Nov. 2, 2006; Nov. 16, 2005 and Nov. 10, 2004. 

Spangdahlem winters usually last from October through May with an average of 21 inches of snowfall per year.
