Following through with New Year's resolutions can be overwhelming as it's right on the heels of an often hectic holiday season.

To help Sabers do their best to make the most of the new year, agencies from around Spangdahlem Air Base and the Airman & Family Readiness Center have brought together this year's New Year...New You event.

New Year...New You is an information fair hosted by the Volunteer Advisory Committee 11:30 a.m. Jan. 8 in the A&FRC, Bldg. 307, said Lindsay Simmons, A&FRC community readiness technician.

"It's designed to encourage members of the Eifel community to get out and try something new in 2010," she said. "This event features many organizations across the base who offer classes, volunteer or job opportunities, travel tips and tours, and leisure activities. Sabers are invited to join us to browse the tables, talk to organization representatives and attend the 30-minute breakout sessions."

The event is open to all: active duty members, family, civilians and contractors from across the base are all welcome to attend the third annual New Year...New You where there will be more than 50 vendors with information about their programs. Last year, more than 150 customers participated in the event.

Mrs. Simmons is an advocate for the New Year...New You event, saying the gathering will offer a little something for everyone.

"The breakout sessions will be fabulous! These 30-minute mini-seminars will give Sabers the tips and tools they need to stick to their 2010 resolutions, whether that's to gain skills in interviewing or resumé writing, getting finances in order, reducing stress levels, or living a healthy lifestyle," Mrs. Simmons said.

Sessions will be offered starting at noon and will cover a variety of topics such as finances, stress and fitness. The following sessions will be offered during the information fair:

12-12:30 p.m. Marketing yourself for success
12:45-1:15 p.m. Tips to become money savvy
1:30-2 p.m. Stress management and new energy
2:30-3 p.m. Fitness for the new year

With so many options and choices living in nearly the middle of Europe, Mrs. Simmons added Sabers and their families should really take advantage of all that New Year...New You has to offer.

"Take the first step and get involved," said Cheryl Kirkwood, A&FRC supervisory community readiness consultant. "It might seem overwhelming with all the choices, but everyone should be able to find a class or organization that interests them. Giving back to the community will make Spangdahlem feel more like home."

Door prizes such as movie tickets, gift certificates for spa services, fitness equipment and more, will be given out during the information fair. For more information about the event, contact the A&FRC at 452-6422.
