Protect your username and password Published March 2, 2011 U.S. Air Forces in Europe Information Assurance Campaign SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- The most common way to access a Web site account is through a username and password, where some usernames may be your actual name. Your password should be a secret code, known only by you. The more complex the password, the safer it will be. This will, however, make it harder to memorize. Writing usernames and passwords down makes them easier to remember, but also easy for others to find and possibly use. If your password is discovered, you become vulnerable. Using the same username and password for all of your accounts is also dangerous. Criminals could then have access to every one of your accounts that they find. Protect your usernames and passwords; lock them away and stay safe.
