Eifel Spring Bazaar dates set, volunteers still needed Published April 13, 2011 52nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- The Eifel Spring Bazaar, sponsored by the 52nd Force Support Squadron and hosted by the Spangdahlem Spouses and Enlisted Member's Club, is noon to 8 p.m. April 29 and 30 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 1 in Hangars 1 and 2. This three-day event is SSEMC's primary fundraiser and generates thousands of dollars for the Spangdahlem community. Last year, the bazaar generated more than $400,000 with profits of $72,000 going directly back into the community in the form of scholarships and welfare donations. SSEMC gives back to the Eifel Community Schools, American Red Cross, Airman and Family Readiness Center, Eifel Youth Sports, Airman in Distress Fund, Fisher House, Wounded Warriors and numerous other organizations. The bazaar will offer more than 100 vendors selling wine, cheese, toys, furniture, antiques and other gifts. There are a few things Sabers need to know in regards to the bazaar. Base private organizations will be selling food and beverages. Strollers will be permitted during the bazaar. The event is open to all U.S. and NATO Forces ID card holders. A Community Bank ATM will be available in front of the hangers. Credit cards, checks and U.S. dollar will be accepted. Pets or other animals are not allowed in the hangars at any time during the bazaar due to health and safety reasons. However, there are exceptions for service animals. The bazaar is not possible without the generosity of hundreds of volunteers, and there are volunteer shifts available throughout the day for the entire weekend. Volunteer opportunities include: Vendor setup/assistance, kitchen, credit cards, runners, and cash and business office.
