Thank an administrative professional Published April 25, 2011 By Staff Sgt. Kali L. Gradishar 52nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- Every day is a good day to thank the administrative professionals who work behind the scenes to ensure smooth sailing even in rough waters. Administrative Professionals Week, April 24-30, and Administrative Professionals Day on April 27 are times of special recognition for your office professional. From keeping the unit calendar to juggling schedules and appointments, the administrative professional manages the unmanageable. National Secretaries Week, now known as Administrative Professionals Week, was created in 1952 by members of the International Association of Administrative Professionals, formerly known as the National Secretaries Association, "to recognize 'the secretary, upon whose skills, loyalty, and efficiency the functions of business and government offices depend,' and to call attention 'through favorable publicity, to the tremendous potential of the secretarial career,'" said the IAAP Web site. Flowers, a card or e-card, lunch or a gift basket are common ways to show appreciation to administrative professionals; however, showing appreciation can be as simple as saying "thank you." Take a few seconds at least to impart words of appreciation to the office professional in your life who keeps your office or unit running - today, this week and every day.
