Super Saber Performer Published July 8, 2011 By 52nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- Name: Senior Airman Zachariah Pinkston Unit: 52nd Contracting Squadron Duty title: Contracting specialist Hometown: St. George, Utah Years in Service: Two years and nine months. Why joined: I joined to pay for college and travel around the world. Family: My mother, Denise Hatch, my father Randell Pinkston and my sister Tabatha Pinkston. Hobbies: Outdoors: Hiking, Camping, Rock-Climbing; Martial Arts and Fitness; Research; Music; Travel; Adrenaline Junkie. Favorite aspect of job: The best part of my job is the people. When you get to meet and do business with good people, it makes it all the more worthwhile. To add to that, the leadership here has been outstanding. I am very grateful to have had such great leaders on my first assignment. Knowing that such a small part of the U.S. Air Force is such a vitally important force-multiplier is just amazing. Most memorable AF experience: The 11 mile Bastogne March, in 2010, through the ice and snow to commemorate the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944-1945 World War II. Some members of my squadron and I participated in this march. It was very cold, very long and very difficult, but it was totally worth it to experience what American Soldiers went through in that era. How do you make responsible choices: I have a foundation of morals and ethics that I have gathered from various theological sources that allows me to recognize right from wrong. I choose to do what's right simply because I know it is right.
