Super Saber Performer Published Oct. 6, 2011 By Staff Reports 52nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs GEILENKIRCHEN, Germany -- Name: Staff Sgt. Marco A. Barroso Unit: 470th Air Base Squadron Duty title: Network support technician Hometown: Miami Years in Service: 10 years Why joined: I joined for education, travel and to better myself. Family: Wife, Orawan; and daughter, Adela. Hobbies: I enjoy reading, playing guitar and drums, basketball, cycling, and scuba diving. Favorite aspect of job: Being a communications technician, I enjoy the fast pace in which my career field evolves because I'm constantly learning in order to stay current. I also enjoy troubleshooting and problem solving. Most memorable Air Force experience: As a new Airman in 2002, I was selected out of about 20 people to join a team that would represent Patrick Air Force Base, Fla., at a Space Command Honor Guard competition. The final team traveled to Peterson AFB, Colo., and we competed against five other AFSPC bases. After three days of being judged by the Air Force Honor Guard team, we won first place. As a reward, we flew to Vandenberg AFB, Calif., and performed several ceremonies for the yearly Space Command Guardian Challenge in front of U.S., Canadian, UK and Australian air forces. How do you make responsible choices: Two things help me make responsible decisions: first, I keep my family in mind. I do not make a choice without thinking how it will affect my family. Secondly, and it may sound cliché, integrity. The Air Force has strengthened my belief that I should always do the right thing.
