Zach Neithamer Unit: 52nd Maintenance Operations Squadron Duty title: 81st Aircraft Maintenance Unit scheduler Hometown: Philadelphia Years in Service: Six years Why joined: I joined the Air Force to get on a straight path. Family: My wife, Mindy; a baby boy on the way; and my dog, Benjamin. Hobbies: I enjoy traveling, hiking, and playing softball and basketball. Favorite aspect of job: Watching a plan that my team and I built come together, as well as the pressure of being able to adapt when wrench after wrench is thrown in it. Most memorable Air Force experience: Stepping outside my career field and being trained as an engine troop on A-10 Thunderbolt IIs while deployed to Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. We completed 13 engine swaps to keep jets in the sky during the first democratic elections in Afghanistan. How do you make responsible choices: I make responsible choices by always remembering all the other people I affect. Every decision I make has consequences for others, whether it's my family or the people I lead and follow. It's not just about me, it's about how my responsible choices affect the whole team.
