Name: Staff Sgt. Joseph Asprocolas

Unit: 702nd Munitions Support Squadron

Duty title: Communication maintenance technician

Hometown: Edison, N.J.

Years in Service: Five years

Why joined: I joined for the opportunity to give back some of my work experience in order to apply it to a new career in the Air Force.

Family: Wife, Jennifer; and son, Aiden

Hobbies: Aviation, remote control aircraft, camping, skiing/snowboarding, and just about anything else outdoors.

Favorite aspect of job: My favorite aspect of the job is the satisfaction of fixing and maintaining equipment in a fast-paced, no-nonsense environment. For anyone who maintains anything, depending how hard it is to find the problem, it makes discovering the solution that much more rewarding.

Most memorable Air Force experience: My most memorable Air Force experience was a deployment to Balad Air Base, Iraq. It was evident each day the equipment we maintained had a direct impact on the day-to-day mission.

How do you make responsible choices: Always have a plan, and if yours falls through, call someone who may have a better one.
