Sabers competed in an Iron Airman competition May 22, 2014, at the Combat Fitness Center.

The competition put on by the Wing Staff Agencies, challenged competitors with seven different events.

"We wanted to take fitness to the next level and make it competitive," said U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Andre Thomas, 52nd Fighter Wing Chapel Corps chapel support. "We also added in a few football elements to add a little challenge to the competition and make it fun."

The participants competed in a pushup, situp, pullup, 400 meter run, punt, kick, and pass events.

U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Sarah Webb, 52nd Fighter Wing Public Affairs superintendent and David Esra, 52nd Force Support Squadron recreation assistant, won first place in the female and male category.

"This was definitely a great event and was really well organized," said U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Cory Aita, 606th Air Control Squadron radio frequency transmissions craftsman. "It had a wonderful set of exercises, and was really motivational, and a challenge overall."
