Explore the Eifel 2015: Adventure Fair Tours
SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- The following events throughout May and June comprise the 11th annual Explore the Eifel adventure fairs. Interested participants can sign up by e-mailing Spangdahlem's community relations office at 52fw.cra@us.af.mil or calling DSN: 452-6434 or 0656561-6434.
Important notes: Seats are limited to these tours, which may involve transportation costs (10 Euro for adults and five Euro for children), unless otherwise stated. Bus seats are offered on a "first come, first serve" basis.

ETE Events
Saturday and Sunday, May 9-10 - Bitburg Culture Days
Manifold activities and entertainment will take place throughout the city of Bitburg as part of the Rheinland-Pfalz Culture Days, to be held in Bitburg this year as part of the city's 1300th anniversary. Participants must use their own transportation.
Bitburg Brewery tour at 12:30 p.m. Meeting point: City hall/Stadthalle entrance hall - no costs involved.
German classes for Spangdahlem members
The Wittlich VHS- school, which is part of the cities area administration's to promote adults education in the area, is offering a 10-evening Beginner's German Language class at the Binsfeld town hall. This class is open to base members only. The class starts off at 6 p.m. May 13 at the Binsfeld town hall. Classes are Wednesdays, 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, May 16 - Trip to Traben Trarbach Rope Climbing Park and Bernkastel Sightseeing
Adventure Forest Rope climbing for adults (one hour of free climbing) starts at 11 a.m. Visit of sports airfield in Trarben-Trarbach (optional). Afterwards sightseeing in Bernkastel and visit of Candy Factory. Enjoy seeing the attractions of Bernkastel-Kues on a walk through the city. Bus transportation. Departure at 10 a.m. from the base theater. Fee is 10 Euros per seat for bus to be paid at bus. Sign-up by calling 452-6434.

Wednesday, May 20 - Hike through Trier vineyards with Fort Worth partnership city club of Trier
The Trier Fort Worth Club invites you to a 60-minute hike through the Trier vineyards at Trier-Olewig. An English-speaking tour starts at 3 p.m. from the Trier Amphitheatre. This is an afternoon event on a regular duty day. People must coordinate their participation with their supervisors. Participants must register for this event on their own by sending an email to:
info@fortworth-trier.org. A joined dinner with wine tasting is offered afterwards at the participants' own expense. They must also use their own transportation both to and from Trier. For information on the Fort Worth club, visit

Friday, May 22 - Trip to Pruem area - Learn about WWII bunkers
Walk by WWII bunkers through a forested area, (Sigfried line, Dragon Teeth, Tank obstacles, 3.5km), hosted by Bitburg County Administration with a free barbecue included; starts at 2 p.m. Meeting point: Parking area "Schwarzer Mann; GPS: 50.15533N/6.22235 E. Max number of people: 25. Sign up by e-mailing

Friday, June 12 - Table Tennis Match, village museum and free barbecue in Binsfeld
Spangdahlem's honorary commanders of Binsfeld invite interested base members and their families to a table tennis competition at the community hall of Binsfeld, as well as on a visit of the Binsfeld museum. There will be a free "Friends and Partners" barbecue following the event. The event starts at 2 p.m. This is an afternoon event on a Family Day. Participants must use their own transportation. Saturday, June 13 - Trip to Vianden castle and Ernzen Dinosaur Park
Explore the Vianden castle. The event starts at 10 a.m. with a free English-speaking tour of the castle. (Entry to the castle will be offered at a reduced cost for military members and their families during this trip and during June 1-15). Participants must purchase their own food and beverages. Visit of newly opened Dinosaur Park and Devil's canyon near Ernzen/Irrel afterwards. Participants must use their own transportation. Sign up with

Saturday or Sunday - June 20-21 TBD - City tour of Luxembourg with stop at Auchan's shopping mall
The Luxembourg City Tourist Office invites base members and their families on a free city tour. The event starts at 11 a.m. with time for shopping at the Aucham shopping mall afterwards. Departure time is 9:45 a.m. from the Base Theater. Transportation is 12 Euros for adults and 6 Euros for children. Sign up with
