Upcoming Events

October: The Arts and Crafts Center is hosting an artists and craftsman contest. The categories are painting, any media; drawing and prints, any media; three-dimensional, sculpture, wood, metals, etc.; general, handcrafted items, kits, molds, etc. The categories will be broken into adult, 18 and older; and youth, 13 to 17 and 12 and under. Entries need to be at building 189 by 4 p.m. Oct. 21. The entries must be submitted with a 5x7 JPEG on a compact disc. Entries must be picked up by 9 a.m. Oct. 26. Oct. 10: The Kaiserslautern Military Community Air Force Chapels and Protestant Families presents "The marriage you've always wanted" seminar with author Gary Chapman, Ph.D. in Adult Education, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Ramstein Officers' Club. Seating is limited. The cost is $35 per couple or $45 with lunch, or $20 per person and $25 with lunch. Lunch includes soup, salad and sandwich. Oct. 10: The 3rd Annual Team Eifel Scout Unity Day will be held 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 10 at Spangdahlem Elementary School. All registered cub scouts, boy scouts, girl scouts and others interested in becoming a scout are invited to attend. 

Oct. 10: There will be a Firefighters Parade 11 a.m. Oct. 10 starting at the Eifel Lanes Bowling Center in celebration of Fire Prevention Week Oct. 5-10. The parade will include American and German fire trucks and will be led by Sparky. The parade will end in the Spangdahlem Elementary School parking lot where there will be a free lunch, games and handouts for children,, and a raffle. 

Oct. 11: The Binsfeld mayor is hosting the 15th Annual Forest Walk 9:15 Oct. 11 starting at the Binsfeld community hall. The estimated return is 2 p.m. To RSVP, call the 52nd Fighter Wing Community Relations Office at DSN 452-7161 or e-mail 52fw.cra@spangdahlem.af.mil. 

Oct. 12: The Eifel Lanes Bowling Center will have special bowling prices on Columbus Day Oct. 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost to bowl will be $1.50. 

Oct. 12: There will be a Columbus Day trip to visit the interactive museum and go quad off-roading in Nurburgring 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 12. The cost is $129 per person for adults only. The cost includes transportation, a guide, museum entrance fee and quad rental. Space is limited to the first ten to sign up. For more information, call Outdoor Recreation at DSN 452-7170. 

Oct. 12 - Nov. 16: There will be puppy kindergarten obedience classes for dogs 6 months and younger 6:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 12 - Nov. 16 at the Pet Spa in Oberweis. The cost is $30 for the six-week class. Oct. 13 - Nov. 17: There will be obedience classes for dogs 6 months and older 6:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 - Nov. 17 at the Pet Spa in Oberweis. The cost is $60 for the six-week class. 

Oct. 14: Tops In Blue will perform at the Skelton Memorial Fitness Center Oct. 14. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. The event is free. The theme for the Tops In Blu 2009 tour is "To Dream." 

Oct. 14: There will be a basic auto care class 5-6:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at building 189. The cost is $25. Those who are interested can sign up at the Auto Hobby Shop. 

Oct. 14: There will be a cake decorating class 6-9 p.m. Oct. 14 in building 189. The cost is $30. Oct. 15: The Mosel Dining Facility hosts a Deployed Family Dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 15 for family members of deployed Saber servicemembers. Family members of E-4s and below will receive discount meal rates. Bring your Project Care button and a copy of deployed servicemember's deployment orders. For more information, call DSN 452-6727. 

Oct. 15: There will be a free Smalltown Comedy Tour Oct. 15 at the Eifel Community Center. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the event starts at 9 p.m. The event will be hosted by Sean B and comedians Steve Brown and Tony Woods. The show is for adults 18 years and older. Tickets will be available at the community center on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call DSN 452-7260. 

Oct. 15: A Defense Finance and Accounting Service - Cleveland member, Tony Cifani, will be available 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 15 for military retirees to ask questions and discuss issues or concerns. Mr. Cifani will be conducting Call Center Services. Retirees with questions or concerns can call DSN 379-6080. If this event is successful, there will be additional call center dates in April, June and October 2010. 

Oct. 16: There will be a Texas Hold 'Em tournament Oct. 16 at Club Eifel. Check in starts at 5:30 p.m., and the tournament starts at 6 p.m. The event is free for club members. To reserve a seat, call DSN 452-4639. 

Oct. 16: The Eifel Lanes Bowling Center offers a Boss's Day special from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Bowl one game with your boss, and your boss only pays $1 a game. For more information, call DSN 452-6217. 

Oct. 16: The Eifel Community Center will host Country Night at the Brick House Oct. 16. Additional dates for the event will be Oct. 23 and Oct. 30. For more information, call Andy Rice at DSN 452-7381. Oct. 17: There will a Pumpkin Patch Trip Oct. 17. Participants will be picked up at 2 p.m. The cost is $ for youth and teen center members and $ for non-members. 

Oct. 17: Outdoor Recreation offers a Devil's Canyon hike from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $15 per person and includes transportation and a guide. People are asked to bring water, lunch and euro. For more information, call DSN 452-7170. 

Oct. 17: There will be an advanced mat cutting class 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 17 at building 189. The cost is $15 plus the cost of supplies. Those who are interested must sign up seven days in advance. 

Oct. 17: The Eifel Lanes Bowling Center will host a No-Tap Tourney Oct. 17. Sign up begins at 1 p.m., and bowling begins at 2 p.m. Tourney rules states men can knock down nine pins to count a strike and women can knock down eight pins for a strike. 

Oct. 18: The Brick House is hosting Croptoberfest, an all-day scrapbooking extravaganza 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Brick House. The sign-up deadline is Oct. 12. For more information, call Andy Rice at DSN 452-7381.
