AF Hoops hits the Air Force Published Jan. 25, 2010 52nd Force Support Squadron SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- Last year more than 22,000 entries were made in the Air Forces National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Men's Basketball Championship online bracket tournament promotion. This year promises to be even bigger. The Air Force Hoops promotion gives Air Force sports fans the chance to win big prizes by selecting teams in the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship Tournament. "The beauty of it is you don't have to get the teams right to win prizes," said Fred McKenney, chief of Air Force Food and Beverage Division. "You have a chance to win just by registering and entering your bracket selections." Beginning Feb. 15, eligible ID card holders 18 years and older can pick up a soda cup and game piece at participating food and beverage activities, such as the Eifel Lanes Bowling Center, Eifel Mountain Golf Course, Club Eifel and the Brick House. A purchase is not required. Players can then register online using the code on the game piece. Participants can fill in tournament bracket selections for up to 10 brackets On March 14,. Picks can be made and changed, but final picks for all rounds must be submitted by 6 a.m. Eastern Standard Time March 18. "In addition to the online tournament, folks should stop by one of our activities; they are great places to watch the games," said Frank Black, acting director of programs for Air Force Services Agency. "We've partnered with Coke to provide some great prizes." The first-place prize 0f $10,000 is sponsored by The Coca Cola Company. The second-place winner receives $5,000; third place is $2,500 and fourth place is $1,000. For more information, stop by any participating 52nd Force Support Squadron location.
