MOSSHOLM, Germany -- The 52nd Force Support Squadron Outdoor Recreation team hosted a fishing trip to the Baltic Sea Sept. 21 - 23.

The Baltic Sea fishing trip is one of many trips ODR offers to ID card holders and their guests. In addition to trips, ODR also offers rentals ranging from chairs, tables and tents to fishing gear, snow gear and canoes.

"It's a wonderful experience and helps you see a lot of Germany and builds camaraderie," Tech. Sgt. Robert Kneberg, 52nd Maintenance Operations Squadron, said of participating in ODR programs. "I highly recommend these trips to anyone."

The trip cost $175 per person including transportation, one day on a large fishing boat on the Baltic Sea, fishing tackle and one overnight in a pension, which is a family owned and run hotel.

During the trip, attendees were driven through the night to their destination and immediately boarded a boat at the port of Mossholm to begin fishing the next morning. As the anglers boarded, wind cut through thick layers of their clothing, but their excitement kept them going. The anglers baited their hooks immediately and cast their lines into the sea to fish from 7 a.m. - 4 p.m., during which they enjoyed a traditional German lunch aboard and caught more than 80 fish.

After a long day out at sea of catching fish and building new friendships, they prepared for dinner in a nearby fishing village before their nine-hour drive home.

The ODR office aims to boost morale throughout the year by organizing trips and activities and providing low-cost rentals and repairs for DoD members and their friends and families. "Anything you might want in the outdoor recreation realm, we have here," said Michael Kirsch, 52nd FSS ODR outdoor adventure program coordinator.
