The U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa commander and NATO Allied Air Command commander, Gen. Jeff Harrigian, participated in an Agile Combat Employment exercise involving NATO partners in the European theatre, June 25, 2020.

In this event, F-16s from the 52nd Fighter Wing, Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, flew to Buchel Air Base, Germany where they were refueled by members from the Luftwaffe’s 33rd Tactical Air Force Wing.

Partnered support like what was executed in this ACE exercise helps to generate resilient airpower that then allows us to deter, defend and win in a contested environment.

“Our NATO partners are really the backbone of Agile Combat Employment,” Harrigian said. “We can’t do it without them.”

Harrigian was impressed with the proficiency of 52nd FW Airmen, and the partnerships the Wing has with our host nation of Germany.

“What the team here at Spangdahlem has done to take the power point slides and the concept to the next level of operational capability is impressive,” Harrigian said.
