The 480th Fighter Squadron, Aircraft Maintenance Unit and support community returned home between Sept. 15 and 21, 2013, from a deployment to southwest Asia in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The support community is made up of the 480th AMU, 52nd Equipment Maintenance Squadron, 52nd Component Maintenance Squadron and the 52nd Logistics Readiness Squadron. In addition, the 52nd Operations Support Squadron deployed members in support of Operation Enduring Freedom alongside the 480th FS.

This community made up the 480th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron, U.S. Air Forces in Europe's only F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter aircraft Block 50 squadron. While deployed, this unit provided battle space owners and combatant commanders with dedicated suppression of enemy air defense, air interdiction, counter-air, and close air support capability.

This was on display as nearly 200 Airmen deployed with the unit helped provide safe, reliable and airworthy, combat-ready aircraft lending close-air support to friendly ground forces.

In addition, they also flew combat search and rescue missions in support of coalition forces.

"I am very proud of the mission these professionals provided in support of Operation Enduring Freedom," said Col. David Julazadeh, 52nd Fighter Wing commander. "The men and women of the Saber Nation continue to do an outstanding job each and every day, and we're happy to have them back home with their families."

For more information about the return, please call the 52 FW public affairs office at 06565-61-6012.
