The third annual Super Saber Appreciation Day is scheduled from 2 - 10:30 p.m. July 4 here for Spangdahlem Airmen and their families.

The day officially begins at 2 p.m. with free food and drinks and family activities scheduled throughout the day.

"This is force support squadron's way of saying 'thanks' for all the support we get throughout the year," said George Price, 52nd Force Support Squadron special events coordinator. "We encourage people to come early and stay late. All are welcome to participate or just relax and watch the event unfold."

A number of events, including ponies, a carousel, swings, jeep jouster and two bouncy castles, will be available for younger children. A mechanical bull, paintball and a dunk tank will be available for older children and adults.

One of the most popular events is the dunk tank. A number of wing leadership including Col. Christopher Weggeman, 52nd Fighter Wing commander, and Col. Jodine Tooke, 52nd Mission Support Group commander, are two of the VIP's scheduled to be dunked, Mr. Price said.

An Elvis impersonator will perform from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. and the local band Goose Flesh will play from 6:15 - 10:15 p.m.

A pet show, with awards for best trick, best behaved, best dressed, cutest and best in show will take place from 5 - 6 p.m. Registration is from 2 - 4:30 p.m.

To end the day, a fireworks show is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. In case of severe inclement weather the show will be postponed until July 5 at the same time and place.
