SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany – A Bitburg woman takes control of the symbolic key to the city during the annual storming of the Rathaus, or town hall, Feb. 11. 52nd Fighter Wing members took part in the celebration and assisted Joachim Kandels, Bitburg mayor, in defending the key. Once the women got the key, they also took control of the city for the rest of the day. The storming marks Weiberdonnerstag, or the first day of Fasching.
