52nd MXG MPOY awards banquet
SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany – Brig. Gen. Mark A. Atkinson, director of logistics, installations and mission support, Headquarters U.S. Air Forces in Europe, gives a speech during the 2009 52nd Fighter Wing Maintenance Professional of the Year awards banquet Feb. 27 at Club Eifel. General Atkinson was the guest speaker at the banquet and presented each of the nominees with a medal for their accomplishment. The banquet highlighted the 52nd Maintenance Group’s accomplishments including engine and hydrazine support throughout Europe, several Air Force Smart Operation initiatives, and numerous aircraft and equipment upgrades and modifications. The 52nd MXG also supported more than 10,000 homestation sorties and 28,000 flying hours, culminating in recognition as the best maintenance group in USAFE and winning the command’s 2009 Daedalian trophy.
