11/8/2012 - SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- Six senior master sergeants assigned to the 52nd Fighter Wing were selected for promotion to chief master sergeant Nov. 8.

Wing leadership, along with a bus filled with commanders and fellow chiefs, made their way from workplace-to-workplace to surprise and congratulate the chief selects.

"This is an exciting moment for us and for them," said Chief Master Sgt. Matthew Grengs, 52nd FW command chief. "Very few of our enlisted members ever achieve the rank of chief master sergeant, so making this a big deal and bringing our chiefs and our commanders and anyone else along to congratulate these selects is a special moment."

The following individuals were selected:

Chad Ballance, 52nd Aerospace Medicine Squadron
Charles Clark, 52nd Equipment Maintenance Squadron
Rodney Cronrath, 52nd Munitions Maintenance Group
Neil Jones, 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron
Renee Miller, 52nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron
Patrick Sebay, 52nd EMS

Less than one percent of the Air Force enlisted force makes it to the rank of chief master sergeant. To view the entire list, which was released by Air Force Personnel Center at 3 p.m. Central European Time, visit
