10/11/2012 - SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- Exchange service hours and locations are changing throughout November as new facilities open and old facilities close and draw back hours here and at Bitburg Annex.
"Our goal is to provide as much service as we can as we open new facilities and close and change hours at others," said Lt. Col. Lynn Marshall, 52nd Mission Support Group deputy commander.
Spangdahlem/Bitburg Exchange The Spangdahlem and Bitburg Exchanges close Oct. 31 in preparation for the grand opening of Spangdahlem's new Exchange 11:52 a.m. Nov. 2.
The grand opening will include activities, contests and giveaways to include a big-screen television.
The new store will provide Sabers with more choices and convenience as it includes added and expanded sections, a larger parking lot, a mini-mall with concession stands, a beauty shop, nail salon, barbershop, toy store, optical shop, clothing sales with alterations, dry cleaners, a European fashion store, and a car rental and sales center.
"We're excited to provide this great benefit of one stop shopping to the community," said Michael Ryan, Spangdahlem Exchange general manager. "We have a broader selection in this store than what the community previously had."
The main area of the Exchange also includes six main checkout stations, two Powerzone checkout stations, one jewelry checkout station, and three customer service kiosks.
The customer service area will also include a kiosk where people can order items from http://www.shopmyexchange.com, with help from customer service representatives.
The food court at the Exchange will also offer new dining options including Charley's Grilled Subs, Manchu Wok and Starbucks. Anthony's Pizza and Subway will move to the new location while Burger King will remain at its current location.
The new Exchange main store hours of operation are 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday and holidays. The food court hours of operation are 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday with the exception of Charley's Grilled Subs, which is open 7 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday.
Bitburg Annex gas station and Shopette The Bitburg Annex gas station and shopette is changing its operating hours beginning Nov. 1.
The gas station and shopette's new hours will be noon - 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday, and 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday. They will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday and will only carry diesel and super unleaded once other grades of residual gas run out.
The change in operating hours and types of gas carried is based on high-traffic hours and product consumption.
"We're committed to people who still live and work at Bitburg," Marshall said. "We're going to keep services there as long as possible."
