5/21/2012 - SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE, Germany -- Car cleaning services are available for base members who want basic to full-detail car-cleaning services.
The 52nd Force Support Squadron Auto Hobby Center offers these services to base members who need their vehicles cleaned for personal use or to pass the agricultural inspection required to ship vehicles to the states.
The cleaning services the auto hobby center provides are a basic agricultural cleaning, agricultural detailing, deluxe auto cleaning, exterior cleaning and interior detailing. The agricultural cleanings guarantee vehicles pass the agricultural auto shipping inspection. Prices vary for each type of cleaning.
"Vehicles must be 100 percent soil free to ship back to the states," said Reginald Sermons, 52nd Logistics Readiness Squadron Vehicle Processing Center vehicle inspector. "The auto hobby shop does a good job of making sure that happens."
The vehicle processing center here checks four areas of privately owned vehicles during agricultural inspections, and the auto center provides cleaning services for the following areas:
· Exterior
· Interior
· Under the hood
· Trunk
"We guarantee the cleaning until it passes," said Carlos Noriega, auto hobby center vehicle detailer, of the additional agricultural cleaning they provide for free if the car does not pass inspection.
Vehicle owners can also rent a cleaning bay to do entire cleanings or touch-ups themselves. The center has two cleaning bays; one with a coin-operated vacuum and the other with a pressure washer.
The auto hobby center also provides touch-up services for those who may have missed a spot when cleaning vehicles themselves.
"Some people will come in and have cleaned their own vehicle, but missed an area," Sermons said of people shipping their vehicle. "They'll go across the street to the auto hobby center and they often provide on-the-spot touch-ups on the missed areas. Auto Hobby is familiar with what we're looking for. They're good at getting into nooks and crannies to make sure everything is cleaned out."
The auto hobby shop hours are 7:30 a.m. - 7 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. weekends. For more information, call DSN 452-6842 or 06565-61-6842.

8/6/2012 11:23:43 AM ET The auto hobby shop on spangdahlem is awful. I have taken my vehicle in there many times and every time they fix something it goes bad after about 2 weeks. This has happened on more than one occasion.
