Upcoming Events

July 24: Spouse Tuition Assistance applications are available for classes between July 31 and Oct. 17. Applications must be received by July 24. STAP is available to overseas spouses of active-duty servicemembers attending courses through on-base programs. For more information, e-mail Nanette.Wilson@spangdahlem.af.mil.  

July 26: There will be an Operation Sew Much Comfort event 9:30 a.m. - 2p.m. July 31 at the Airman and Family Readiness Center to adjust boxer shorts for servicemembers to wear comfortably over their injuries. Bring a sewing machine and a transformer if you need one, or help by cutting, pinning, ironing, labeling or inspecting products. There will be no childcare on site available, so please make appropriate arrangements. Visit www.saberspouses.com to read about the last Sew Much Comfort day. July 27: The 52nd Fighter Wing quarterly awards luncheon is 11:30 a.m. Aug. 3 at Club Eifel. Meals are $11 for members and $15 for non-members. Sign-up with your first sergeant by July 27.

July 27: Puppy kindergarten, an obedience class for puppies under six months old are 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Mondays July 27 through Aug. 31 at the Pet Spa. Cost is $30.

July 27-31: The Trinity Baptist Church vacation bible school takes place from 9 a.m. to noon July 27-31 at Trinity Baptist Church in Metterich. The free VBS is themed "Crocodile Dock, Where Fearless Kids Shine God's Light." The school is open to children who have completed kindergarten through sixth grade. July 28: A class on tole painting, the art of decorating tin and wooden items, is scheduled from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. July 28 at the Arts and Crafts Center in building 189. The cost is $12 plus the cost of wood. Sign up 10 days in advance to reserve a seat. For more information, call the arts and crafts center at 452-6842.

July 28: Obedience classes for dogs six months and older are 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays July 28 through Sept. 1 at the Pet Spa. Cost is $60.

July 30: There will be a free Spangdahlem Air Base Technology Exposition featuring new, high-tech products 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. July 30 at Club Eifel. More than 40 exhibitors will be present, demonstrating the latest in biometrics, cyber security, deployable power supplies, ruggedized equipment, substance identification, signal analysis, fiber optics, wireless and mobile communication, and much more. Miscellaneous
· Passport and international driver's license pictures taken at the Music Video Xpress are $5 per picture.
· Spangdahlem Veterinary Treatment Facility clinic hours of operation are 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1-4 p.m., Monday through Friday. To schedule an appointment or for information regarding import/export requirements for your pet, call 452-6769.

TMO
Due to a high number of permanent-change-of-station moves at this time, the travel management office personal property section asks servicemembers and families remain flexible and visit TMO as soon as orders are issued. For more information, call TMO at 452-6068 or stop by building 103.

Education Briefs

OES/EES training
The new Officer and Enlisted Evaluation System Training Guides are published on the Air Force Personnel Center Web site. In accordance with Air Force Instruction 36-2406, unit commanders and appropriate staff officers are responsible for ensuring all first-time supervisors receive general OES/EES training. To facilitate the new OES/EES, guides were published June 29 and are available on the AFPC Web Site under Military, Evaluations, at http://ask.afpc.randolph.af.mil/main_content.asp?prods1=1&prods2=2&prods3=11&prods4=2360.

Central Texas College
Central Texas College is offering hospitality management 6-9 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays through Aug. 4. For more information, call Laurie Clark at 452-7554.

University of Maryland University College
UMUC Europe is offering a new Europe $100 book award for spouses and family members of active-duty enlisted servicemembers. The application process for new and current students takes minutes. Active-duty enlisted servicemembers may apply for the Orkand $100 book award. For more information, call the education center at 452-6063.

Servicemembers and their families can access the Department of Defense Morale, Welfare and Recreation Libraries/Lifelong Learning Resource for college level examination program and DANTES subject standardized test preparation, scholastic assessment test subject preparation, general education diploma test preparation, high school success tips, paying for college, school searches, emergency medical technician preparation, resume building and more. The online resource can be accessed via the Air Force Virtual Education Center on the Air Force Portal under Peterson's Air Force Education Resource Center.
