52d Component Maintenance Squadron (52 CMS)
Mission
"Provide safe, reliable aircraft engines, components and systems in support of USAFE and NATO objectives."

Personnel and Resources
The 52d Component Maintenance Squadron is comprised of 244 highly qualified men and women from a variety of maintenance backgrounds and is responsible for providing several intermediate maintenance functions for the 29 F-16C/D and 22 A-10C aircraft stationed at Spangdahlem AB. The 52d CMS Propulsion flight is the Centralized Repair Facility for F110-GE100 and F10-GE-129 engines and is responsible for supporting the United States Air Forces in Europe and the Central Command Area of Responsibility consisting of 8 flying squadrons with 108 aircraft. In addition, the 52d CMS Accessories Flight's Fuel System Maintenance Section is a Centralized Servicing Facility for hydrazine tanks, supporting the United States Air Forces in Europe, North Atlantic Treaty Organization and Central Command Area of Responsibility.
Organization
The 52d Component Maintenance Squadron is organized into three flights; Accessories, Propulsion, and Avionics. Accessories Flight is responsible for performing maintenance on electrical and environmental systems, egress systems, fuel systems, and hydraulic systems. Propulsion Flight maintains both aircraft engines and engine components including assembly, disassembly, testing, and repair. Last but certainly not least is Avionics Flight which is responsible for maintenance of several major systems including but not limited to Electronic Counter Measure Pods, Radar, and Flight Data Recorders.
Highlights
The 52d Component Maintenance Squadron utilizes environmentally friendly maintenance practices and contains the United States Air Force's sole facility with automatic neutralization of highly toxic and unstable hydrazine. As ambassadors of both the United States and the United States Air Force, the 52d CMS has represented Spangdahlem AB around the world. As winners of multiple awards and several Air Force best practices, the 52d CMS truly is the Power behind Air Power.
